小提琴之最 --
Violin is one of the toughest musical instruments. One cannot imagine how much time is needed to master this instrument. Perhaps, mastery is not the right word.
How to produce a beautiful, non-creaking sound, that is seamlessly joining one note to another, 川流不息,源源不断? If I were to sum it up as follows:-
The Left Hand:-
1. The thumb position.
2. The wrist position.
3. The fingers.
4. The various finger positions.
5. The "slapping" of the fingers on each string .
The Right Hand:-
1. Holding the bow.
2. The Bow Tension.
3. Appropriate grip of the bow.
4. The up and down strokes.
5. The shoulders.
Comments: All the above must be observed. If you study human motions, none of these are in perfect harmony with the natural body posture. Yet, they must be aligned to produce a harmonious sound.
It takes years of practice to be adept at the Violin. The Queen of Musical Instruments is not for all but for those who demand nothing but strict practice.
